Please Google Yellow Sac Spider and Northern Yellow Sac Spider. We get them indoors on the wall and up in the corner by the ceiling in Ontario. While they look harmless these spiders are responsible for more bites than any other spider. They are known to bite just crawling on a person. They can end up caught under sheets or clothes. It looks a lot like the spider I caught today, which I'm convinced is a black lace weaver. Indoors, it looked black. It was about 1" in size. It behaved as you described. Gonna guess it’s a kind of wolf spider - wolf spiders have very rounded thoraxes due to their spinnerets (the web-making bits) being very stubby/small. Best way to tell for certain would be to look at the eyes - if they have two very large eyes front and center as well, chances are it’s a wolfie. ... Discussion Thread

No worries. There are two main reasons I think it’s likely a sac spider: 1. The legs - certain sac spiders have legs where the tarsus (the last segment of the leg, sort of like their ‘foot’) lays flat against the ground, and is often darker than the rest of the spider. There is a sac spider whose name is actually the ‘black footed sac spider’ for this reason. 2. The heart mark - t... Discussion Thread
