I think it’s an insect, maybe an Assassin Bug. They tend to be mistaken for spiders because their antennae look like their legs. It’s easier to see this on the right hand side of the photo. I’m not sure if some of the image is legs or shadows of the legs.

When I was most recently in South Carolina I chased one across a sandy field and later discovered that I was lucky that I didn’t catch it. They are flightless wasps with very potent venom. That was my first hunch, compare to my family of assassin bugs
Bites can sting but they are good guys for vegetation.
